High-intensity interval training (HIIT), also called High-Intensity Intermittent Exercise (HIIE) or sprint interval training (SIT), is a strategic approach to fitness that makes maximum use of time.

HIIT gets the blood pumping in short sessions of between 5 and 30 minutes. These traditionally begin with a warm up followed by up to ten bursts of maximum intensity exercise which may last as little as 20 seconds. These high intensity flurries are interspersed with medium-intensity recovery periods and a quick cool down to conclude.
